Establishing a VPN Connection to HVHS

Please use the following process for connecting to Heritage Valley's network through the internet.

1. Establish a connection to the internet with your internet service provider.
2. Open the VPN client by double clicking the VPN Client icon on your desktop.
3. Click on the Connect button on the Configuration tab window (top left, first button)

4. When prompted enter Your Network Password (in lower case)

5. Configure VPN Session using the procedure provided

The VPN client should connect to Heritage Valley's network at this time. A lock icon in the system tray opposite to the Start button indicates a successful connection.

Note: If access is denied, please return to step 2 and try again. If access fails again, please contact Expedient technical support.

Disconnecting the VPN Connection

After you have established a VPN connection and wish to disconnect from Heritage Valley's network, please perform the following steps:

1. Double click on the lock icon in the toolbar opposite the Start button
2. The VPN client window opens - Click on the Disconnect Button to close the VPN connection.
3. Close the VPN window by clicking on the X in the right hand corner of the VPN client window

Note: Please disconnect from the VPN when you are finished accessing the HVHS network. Leaving your VPN remote access session open and active when not in use is a security violation and an abuse of the remote access policy.

Note: Failure to disconnect using this procedure will cause problems with reestablishing your VPN connection. If you have improperly disconnected, you must reboot the computer in order to connect using the VPN again

Note: Certain internet and web browser add-ons (such as messenger programs, Real Audio, Real Video) will not function due to the configuration of the HVHS network. If you wish to utilize the full spectrum the internet offers, we suggest you reserve all of your internet surfing time to when you are not connected to the VPN. Use of the internet while using the VPN is no different than use of the internet while actually being on the HVHS network. All security and standard policies apply.
